What do you suppose would happen if the EU hassled M$ enough to make M$ decide that EU countries are no longer worth the hassle and refuse to license their products there anymore?
500 million people.

That is where a lot of MS revenue comes from. They can't leave it.

They wouldn't have to leave it for long. Enough people would raise a ruction to make the EU back off.

It is quite funny over at eight forums. It is a bit like being the only sober one in the pub.

Small bunch over there make a lot of noise, but can't talk any sense.

Wolfgang knows what I mean.

It is out of the question - suicide for MS.

Mind you - they are having a go at drastically reducing their customer numbers with win 8 as it is.

They were very lucky to get away with that small fine, by the way. Next time they break an agreement, they might get a very big slap. MS came straight out and owned up - which probably helped.

You will neeed an install dvd - and you need to d/l the updates ( I will explain where from and which ones - it is pretty easy .

Just run the batch as admin and it does the job for you. It takes a while putting the updates in - then it will make the iso. You can go away for lunch and let is do it's thing.
Looking forward to it and a +1

Have the SF Admins and powers that be considered a Linux forum? I would be a total noob although I have tinkered with it some.

3 dozen last time I looked. A few free ones - several are cheap 3-5 bucks.

Some are making tens of millions of dollars, even at 5 bucks a license. I think stardock have made $30m on theirs alone. I bet thay can't believe they have been handed this goldmine.

That tells you something.

I can't believe companies are making tens of millions of dollars just on a start menu app. That seems a bit farfetched. But... I personally wouldn’t pay for one. I haven't even looked to get the free ones.

And as been noted, all Microsoft has to do to kill that market is release a free version. Sure, the other ones may be "fancier", but how many of us have ones fancier than the default that came with 7 or any other OS?

But hey, if there's a need to be met; and a dollar to be made; businesses will spring up. Or put another way... since 8 appears to be bleeding, leeches have popped up all over the place.

Seems staggeringly obvious to me Wolfgang. At the least it is a very serious threat. What non MS software house would not support it.

Do you think MS will? if they did release a start menu app it would be like they were saying 'we were wrong have your start menu back if you want it'

Would You Reject A Pre-Built PC Because Of Windows 8
I found an excellent pre-built PC deal. The system uses quality parts and is cheaper than the cost of the separate parts + shipping by $125.00. Plus, I would have to spend time building the PC. The only problem are is it ships with Windows 8 only. Is Windows 8 a deal killer ?

Is there a way to force Windows 7 to reject certain hardware?
