If you find yourself in a repetitive environment - often very tiring due to noise, poor lighting. - you might be surprised. After a few hours of that, you can't recall what the customer just said 10 seconds ago.

I don't think it is as bad as a cursory glance might imply.

What you might sometimes come across is a refusal to understand, due to prejudice.

Continuing on along the lines of post #579 by whs.
Micky D has pictures on their registers of fries, Big Macs ect.
They need those little squares on their register because the people in the job force can't handle a normal register. They can't even count your change back to you. They just hand you a wad of money back.
Many years ago I bought a saw from Sears and wanted to pay cash. They had to call a supervisor in order to ring up cash and give change. The first cashier was in his thirties.
Yes moron fits well. If you can't walk and chew gum at the same time without a supervisor you are a moron.
They should carry sings. I'm a Moron
That would at least give people around them warning. I'm not highly educated by I can handle ticking on a Start Orb.

Yeah, it's funny you mention Sears. I once bought an item for around $49 from Sears. I wanted to pay with a $50 bill. There also they had to call a manager. I guess they never saw a 50 Dollar bill before.

Don't you remember when GW Bush was re elected someone paid for stuff in Service Stations, Supermarkets etc with $200 George Bush on the note.
President Bush's picture adorns fake $200 bill - Sep. 2, 2004

I also would not be surprised if it is not company policy when someone pays for something with a large note the cashier needs authorisation from a supervisor to complete the transaction. Not everyone running a cashiers desk is a moron, some are putting themselves through college and need a job to pay for it as they go.
That is my $200 note

Of course not. But some are really not up to snuff. And that does not only apply to cashiers. I did not really want to pick on them. But the example came to mind.

Question for you Wolfgang, if you don't mind. The area of Germany where you live is also one of the nicest tourist areas of the world. How does the Black Forest area in Summer compare with Florida in the Winter (i know they don't have much of one)? Do you get homesick for the other one and wish you were over here / there? I miss England and hope to go back for a holiday once I get better.

Though I get your point, moron is an extremely negative word. I would use non-sophisticated, or simply uneducated.

Actually, I would say moron would fit quite well for at least half of the cashiers I deal with.

Limited knowledge of the English language my Aunt Fanny. Your English, accent and all, is better than many, if not most, native English (and whatever the heck we speak in the U.S.) speakers.

Would You Reject A Pre-Built PC Because Of Windows 8
I found an excellent pre-built PC deal. The system uses quality parts and is cheaper than the cost of the separate parts + shipping by $125.00. Plus, I would have to spend time building the PC. The only problem are is it ships with Windows 8 only. Is Windows 8 a deal killer ?

Is there a way to force Windows 7 to reject certain hardware?
Hello, all. I have a quick question. :) Right, my little brother has a laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate (x32). He also has a PS3 webcam (I forget the actual name of it). He is allowed to use this webcam on his PS3, but not on his computer. The problem is that he keeps defying the rule in...
