I built a new computer last Saturday and guess what operating system I installed? Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I haven't seen Win8 either and nothing I've read makes me want to even acknowledge its existence. I also had this attitude about Win ME and Vista, and IMO skipping those two were good decisions. Win98 and XP were the read deal, but the other two were just minor and flawed interim releases. I also recently built a new system with Windows 7 x64 and it is stable and fast, and although there was a slight learning curve when moving from XP it hasn't been arduous.
Anyway, my large monitor is a good 3' from my seating position, so does MS really expect me to lean forward and reach out and touch it 1000 times per day? If I had a tablet it might be different, but I can't see ever buying one of those things. | My System Specs |

The desktop version of Windows 8, wouldn't require to touch your screen, you would still be using a keyboard and mouse.
If anyone has used or played with Xbox 360 dashboard, then you will see where the inspiration for Windows 8 came from. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion dm1 Notebook PC OS Windows 7 Home Premium x86 Service Pack 1 - Linux Mint Mate 14 x64 CPU AMD E-450 APU (64-Bit) @ 1.65GHz Dual-Core Motherboard HP 3387 36.0A (Socket FT1) Memory 4GB DDR3 @ 676MHz Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 6320 Graphics Sound Card Beats Audio - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Monitor(s) Displays LCD HP Monitor Screen Resolution 1366 x 768 @ 60Hz Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse Synaptics TouchPad V 7.5/Logitech USB Wireless PSU Microsoft Composite Battery - ACPI Case HP Cooling HP Cool Sense Hard Drives 500GB - SATA Hitachi HTS547550A9E384 Internet Speed 24.0 Mbps Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials Browser Opera 12.15; Firefox 21 Other Info NIC - Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter

No Windows 8 for me! I don't like the iOS style of it, but they are all at it; Apple's Mountain Lion is more of the same; Leopard was better IMHO. W8 is ok on a tablet or phone, but I have serious reservations about it as a main OS on desk/laptop. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit |

How to Use Windows 8? Search for It Quote: ...But I’ve always been troubled by the duality of Windows 8: the fact that it has two completely different environments. One is for finger operation on touchscreens; the other is the traditional mouse/keyboard desktop.
The traditional desktop runs regular Windows programs (Photoshop, Quicken, iTunes, and so on); the new touchscreen interface, which I’ll call TileWorld, requires a whole new set of full-screen, fairly simple apps.
....My question is: How do you fix something whose founding concept is flawed? How to Use Windows 8?
