Windows 7: Direct X 11.1 not available for Win7, only Win8

I was in Office Depot yesterday and there was the same number of touchscreen Desktop PC's on display as I saw at Best Buy: 1.

Further, all of the PC's displayed had Win8 and exactly none of them worked correctly. I would say about half of the problems were with the manufacturer's crapware burdening the OS, but the OS itself seemed buggy or locked up in the other half. The touchscreen stopped working after it responded to one touch.

I asked the tech desk guy what the response to Win8 is, how it could get to a place where not one of two dozen PC's displayed worked correctly and he gave one word reply: "Disaster." The question most buyers ask is if they can get XP or Windows 7 installed. When he tells them they must pay extra for 7, they leave.

But, but, I thought W8 was selling like hot cakes? Is Microsoft trying to mislead us? LOL

I saw a couple similar responses in Best Buy. Two different guys bringing back new computers, one said
"W8 sucks" and wanted to put Windows 7 on it. Another guy brought one back and said his wife hates W8, and again asking about how to get Windows 7.

Microsoft really blew it this time. They were so worried about Apple's mobile market they threw their own PC market under the bus. I hope they come to their senses soon.
