Thanks, I've been waiting for the new version to come out to try it instead of open office.

Is any form of Java required to use this ?

This is the newest I can find:

    http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questi...-require-java/

Java can be disabled in OO, which I just did.

What do you think about a Visual Basic Macro compatibility workaround? I think the Excel macro issues are a big one for the business user. Get that solved and Office may become a dead duck.

OpenOffice is going to be removed, and then is Java (disabled in browsers at this current time), managed to remove Java completely from the 'family desktop'.

For certain features of the software - but not most - Java is required. Java is notably required for Base.
Anyone need that feature? I won't be using it so doesn't affect me. I'm going to be Java free!

Does calc offer the ability to select blanks, similar to excels Go to>Special function? I really need the support for more than 65,000 lines that 2003 offers me, but they won't upgrade me to 2010 at work

If I recall, it supports 1M rows (since version 3.4?).
