I think this is more indicative of Intel's desire to see the (admittedly excellent) IA-64 architecture be used for something more than silly word games ("Itanium/Itanic - geddit??"). Since AMD effectively won the 64-bit round with the "x86-64", Intel is probably pushing for a 128-bit future somewhat faster than strictly necessary. Given their symbiotic relationship, Microsoft can't afford to ignore Intel's needs.

I sincerely hope that Adobe fails to get their act together. I would really like to see some solid alternatives in their little niches.

It is not really news. Perhaps the bit about the soon to be fired blogger is news, but the tech development is nothing new.

It is very likely silverlight will take over, although I beileve there is not a x64 silverlight as of yet, am I wrong?

    GAWD.
Who will EVER use the full potential of a x128 machine?!? x128 may be ready for Win8 and/or Win9 but a normal user using the full potential of a x128 platform isn't for either Win8 or Win9. It will be MUCH MUCH later.

You must be a casual user.

I would love to do some data modeling in the 128-bit realm.
