A lot of the threads I've seen, where the poster has had problems dual booting, have involved the System Reserved partition.
That why I recommend removing it if you do not need it - it avoids the Wiondows bootmanager and GRUB interactions:

I didn't know that Colin, thanks, it will help a friend trying to dual boot.

I don't use cloud computing, social networking or any of the Windows 8 apps. They are too dumbed down.

With it's single application, cartoonish, flat "windows 95" look and gutted everything, Windows 8's direction reminds me so much of this film...

Adobe is not given customers a choice. There will be no more boxed sets of CSX products beginning with the next release.
I read about this in an Adobe release note and was not a happy camper. In essence you are perpetually renting the software on a month by month basis. I upgraded from CS5.5 to 6 and (for me anyway) it was a waste of money. So if you always need or want the latest software then renting may be the way to go but for many others it works out far more expensive in the longer term.

Maybe one day there will be an acceptable alternative to InDesign.

Windows Blue IMO doesn't improve any user experience on non touch based PCs though I like the little improvements MS did on the metro start.

Yet another prediction of the demise of the desktop.

Brace yourselves, faithful PC enthusiasts. You aren't going to like what I'm about to say. Heck, I don't really like what I'm about to say. In fact, I'm almost terrified to lay out my case in black and white. But that doesn't change the fact that it needs to be said.
There's a very good chance that Microsoft will kill the desktop in Windows 9. No more Task Manager. No more File Explorer. No more legacy compatibility. It'll be 100 percent Live Tiles, 100 percent of the time.
That day is still on the distant horizon, but it is coming. Indeed, if Windows Blue, the just-leaked update to Windows 8, shows us anything, it's that Microsoft is willing to de-emphasize desktop functionality in deference to the modern UI.

Or perhaps they will just kill themselves.

It seems that they want to dig their own grave. Windows 8 is already a disaster in terms of user experience and many don't plan to go beyond Win7, so it's not logical that the next Windows empathizes even more with an user-hostile interface. Of course, for tablets it may be good, but that's a substantially different thing to even compare.

"Killing" the desktop in Windows ¿¿¿9??? is directly closing the doors to half the Windows user base, which have to either stick to XP/7 (which MS tries to avoid) or to migrate to Linux/Mac (which MS tries to avoid). It makes no sense to me. In addition to play games or post in Facebook, people uses computer to work, to get job done and to be productive, and MANY of them don't simply want to battle the metro start menu for using a simple program or open a file, which everyone knows (or knew) how to do.

BTW, who choose the codename "blue"? It must be THE most feared word in Windows

No matter what M$ decides is best for the future, theirs or ours, makes no difference to me and how I want to operate my type of computer choice.

This choice will be a desktop no matter what the operating system I decide to install on it. I have had PC machines which I have installed Ubuntu on, and as anyone else who has done this will tell you, "The machine is faster and smoother running than ever before". A big plus, so far, there are "No Security Programs" needed for a linux based OS machine.

This results in a lighter amount of resources being used for production rather than protection. Hmmm ! The trade-off sounds better every time I think about it .

M$ can and will do anything they want no matter what "We the Consumer" have to say, this is OK with me, So be It !

I will continue to use the machine of my choice and I will continue to use the "Operating System" of my choice also !

Guaranteed it will not be a M$ product !
