It's been several years (maybe five or more) that writing pens came out to capture what was being written on a sheet of paper. The data was then transferred to a file or a word processor. I figured it wouldn't be long that this technology could become real-time with other uses. At least it sounds similar. The pen would track it's own movement or some used a separate tracking module near the paper. This sounds like the pen has been eliminated and you can just use your finger(s). I wonder how the patent trolls will see this?

Hi there
Call me old fashioned but for some purpose you STILL can't beat the old fashioned pencil and paper -- It has unlimited storage capacity, doesn't require any power source, doesn't get broken if you drop it, can withstand a huge amount of abuse when carried around, doesn't need any Internet connection, is capable of drawing any complex shape one requires in as much detail as wanted, doesn't need any boot up time, response time is almost zero and finally the OS it uses is universal ("The Human Brain").

There are all sorts of reasons why one might want to capture printed data and modify it - but using a FINGER -- I don't see it somehow unless you are stuck on a Beach somewhere - even then you'd probably hunt around for a pointed stick to do your sketches in the Sand.

I LIKE modern technology -- but the paper and pencil will probably outlast anything we know as computers.

Besides what would Engineers do if they couldn't make their best designs on Restaurant table cloths or Beer Mats in a pub.

Cheers

Hi there
I'd forgotten that too -- Many inventions were also designed with the help of a Roll of Bog Paper (and pen / pencil) while sitting down "in the small room".

In fact in some of the more modern "Open Plan" offices it's the ONLY place where you can escape the incessant pings of people receiving messages on Mobile Phones and answering them with a voice volume that would dwarf even an old time Drill officer in the Army, or keyboards with the CLICKS enabled. The "Bog" is usually an "Oasis of Peace".

I'm glad I've more or less retired now -- I don't think I'd like the sheer lack of respect or consideration people seem to show each others in these "Open Plan" offices - especially with more and more people strapped into Ipods or mobile phones with bud earphones where they hear LESS music than the poor people around them.

Hopefully the "Bog" will remain a quiet place even amidst all this noise.

Cheers

Hi there
Maybe Ryanair should look at something like that -- why waste space with a PRIVATE cubicle. You could have a bog in the Aisle -- so removing the dedicated loo would allow another TWO rows of seats. !!

Like your "Photo shopping" Great piece of work. !!

Cheers --and have a good afternoon.
