Are these the same as the repair discs created in control panel?

My guess is yes, it is the same. Not really needed if you already have a Windows 7 DVD because all of the same tools are already there.
Indeed, I created my repair disc recently.
I created one too, months ago, but I quickly found out that all I did was waste a disc.
These recovery discs are for people that don't have a Windows 7 installation DVD.
hmm such as those distributed by pc vendors instead of proper discs.
That's exactly what they are SUP3.
Mahmoud has made them available for those who don't have the dvd to hand , or haven't run off the recovery disc before disaster strikes.
There will be plenty of those in the weeks/ months to come.
NST also hosts the Vista recovery disc download -there has been an enormous demand for those - saved a lot of people's bacon since he uploaded them.
If you have experimented with the 7 recovery options - while they appear to offer the same options as the Vista ones - there is much more automation.
Terrific for those who can't use the command line.
They also repair Vista perfectly - and are easier to use.
NOTE: These discs contain the system recovery options only - they are for repairing your Vista/7 installations - they do not contain the installation files.
Yes I agree that it is very helpful of him to make these available for people. And good of you to post it, thanks.
Well, last I knew, with the RTM of Windows 7 Ultimate, the repair utility can be accessed at Startup by tapping F8 repeatedly (same method to get to Safe-Mode).
Things are much easier when you don't need the disc(s).
but F8 is not going to help you if the system can't even load the boot manager.
