Microsoft confirms Internet Explorer 11 is coming to Windows 7

With Windows 8.1, Microsoft has pushed out a revamped version of Internet Explorer that is supposed to be significantly faster than its predecessor, not to mention the fact that it claims to be easier on battery life.

    Thanks for the post.

IE11 is finally embracing other features from Chrome and Firefox such as WebGL. I can't wait for the RTM version :)

I don't think they have released a Preview edition for Windows 7, like they did with IE10. It seems that IE11 won't be released to the Windows 7 platform, until it's been sitting on Windows 8 for a while.

Anyway, I might install IE11 just to see what it's like, but I don't think it will replace my Opera.

There's only one way to try IE11 at present time, and that is to download and install the Win 8.1 consumer preview. Its free...

Don't you need a working version of W8 to get W8.1?

Do I need a product key to install Windows 8.1 Preview?

If you install Windows 8.1 Preview through the Windows Store, you don't need a product key. If you download the ISO, you'll need to enter this product key: NTTX3-RV7VB-T7X7F-WQYYY-9Y92F.

    Hi there
slight correction for TechNet subscribers -- if you download the ISO from TECHNET then you can get a product key via GET KEY button.

The key A.GUY posted might work also -- haven't tried it but the key from TechNet will work properly.

Note also that the ISO is Windows 8.1 PROFESSIONAL -- there isn't a Windows 8.1 ENTERPRISE preview version yet - so if you want a Windows 8.1 "Windows to Go" system you are currently out of luck.

    Cheers
