This is message written by a mod at the unofficial forum for Directory Opus, a 3rd party Windows file manager. It's a interesting little read, especially since I am a Directory Opus user myself

I think it is bad they don't give you an option to add to the White List, But the fact that you don't get UAC prompts for Microsoft's own software only make sense.

Getting prompted to ok commonly launched apps is certainly getting tedious, yet switching it off altogether seems to cause more trouble than it's worth.....

what trouble have you experienced from disabling UAC? i have it turned off because i use Directory Opus, and i get prompted all the time if i use it...
