Windows 7 breaks Amazon records Windows 7 breaks Amazon records
Windows 7 has overtaken Harry Potter novels and the Nintendo Wii to become the biggest grossing pre-order product of all time in the UK, according to e-commerce giant Amazon.
In an announcement which will be music to Microsoft's ears, Amazon.co.uk declared that the new operating system sold more pre-order copies in the first eight hours of its release than Vista did in its entire pre-order period. Microsoft must be pleased with this after the Vista's poor rep. Especially when it launched. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Desktop OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU Intel i5-2500k @ 3.3Ghz Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H Memory 4GB DDR3 Graphics Card Nvidia GTS250 1GB Monitor(s) Displays Sony SDM S95A Screen Resolution 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitech Media Keyboard Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse PSU Corsair HX850W Case Cooler Master 690 II Cooling Thermalright True Spirit 140mm & 3x 120mm & 3x 140mm Fans Hard Drives 1x 1TB, 2x 250GB HDDs Internet Speed 8MB |

Only now in retrospect can one see how smart it was to do a wide beta and RC release.. not only did Microsoft get the much needed telemetry to build a better RTM, they seem to have got a great many people hooked to a Windows release that offers both *eye-candy* and stability, coupled with speed and reliability.
I have had a near perfect experience with Seven RTM. I hope all these people will enjoy it too.
Went to Amazon to see 4 myself. The best selling item is the 7 Home Premium Family Pack. Some really smart buyers out there. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Asus N73SV OS Windows 7 x64 Ultimate SP1 CPU Core i7-2630QM Motherboard Intel HM 65 Memory 6 GB DDR3 Graphics Card Nvidia GT 540M / Intel HD 3000 - Optimus switching Sound Card HD Audio (Intel Azalia/Realtek) ALC269 Monitor(s) Displays LED flat panel Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Hard Drives 2x Seagate Momentus 640 GB - 1,28 TB in total Internet Speed 4 MB/256 kbps Other Info External HDs

Like the thinking behind free samples at the supermarket. Microsoft gave everybody a taste and people are loving it and coming back to get it.
