I used to always get a good chuckle when flight attendants said to turn off all wireless devices = yea right switched to vibrate.

On my last flight from the US I was posting on here all the way home, the flight had a cell data service so I just bluetooth tethered my ipad to my phone and had very usable internet all the way across the atlantic, it sure beat playing angry birds for 8 hours.

After years of requests from passengers combined with numerous studies that have argued Wi-Fi does not hamper navigational instruments on planes, the FAA relented this summer to conduct a study about the safety and usage of electronics while in flight below 10,000 feet.
