I've never used 'autocomplete'
SourceThis test URL will show you why quicker than I can explain it in words. Please try it and come back. If you’re using autocomplete to, for instance, sign up for an email newsletter, you might have just provided that website with your full address and/or (even worse) your credit card details too. It’s as simple as adding the fields to the form and hiding them from the user…
A Guy
I also never have used autocomplete.
I really don't like auto doing anything.
I don't even use auto updates for programs.
I do think many do use autocomplete.
They just want to pop the old computer out of Sleep or Hibernation (I don't use either) and let it do what it wants to.
I did use This test URL
and got back this.
[name] => last forever
[fullname] =>
[email] =>
[city] =>
[street-address] =>
[postal-code] =>
[country] =>
[org] =>
[organization-title] =>
[cc-number] =>
[cc-exp-month] =>
[cc-exp] =>
[cc-csc
I do use and like Sleep and Hibernation.They just want to pop the old computer out of Sleep or Hibernation (I don't use either) and let it do what it wants to.
As far as I know it just restores my system to the state it was in before sleeping.
Yes, that includes running tasks that did not run because/while it was sleeping, I understand that.
Is using sleep/hibernation a security concern ?
To me it's not necessary because it no longer takes a lot of time to start a computer. It's done in a few seconds.
Sleep/hibernation uses a lot of resources/space.
Booting a computer refreshes things and also gets rid of many things that have built up. When the computer is off it uses zero power and no mater what programs want to do ; update or scan ect. It can't do it without your permission.
To me if a computer is connected to the internet and on in any fashion it is a security risk. I'm not there to monitor what is going on.
Nothing to see here..
Code:Array ( [name] => Thomas Smith [fullname] => [email] => [city] => [street-address] => [postal-code] => [country] => [org] => [organization-title] => [cc-number] => [cc-exp-month] => [cc-exp] => [cc-csc] =>
I had this off already since I hated the auto fill when typing in stuff. Nothing shows up on mine either but thanks for the heads up bill.
excellent comment by wayne on the yoast page...
found this over on the lastpass forums. “We make an effort to avoid filling into hidden fields, but it could be possible for a site to use advanced CSS techniques to end up with a field that is technically visible, but (for example) is rendered off the screen.
I personally generally work around this by having a form fill profile without sensitive data (I call it “No Financial Info”), and I use that form fill profile when I’m filling into a page that I know I don’t want to provide sensitive data to.”
Another idiotic software "improvement" designed specifically to harvest the personal information of the unwary.
When are Governments going to start standing up to these "legitimate businesses"?
