Is the 30dollar student version of Home/Pro an upgrade or a full version of Windows 7?

And for like 13dollars or something you can get them to mail you the discs. But once again, are they only upgrade or full version? I was under the impression that they were full version discs.

I downloaded the Home Premium Upgrade for the $29.99 price before I realized that you had the option between that and the Professional edition.

I called Digital River yesterday and they put in a trouble ticket with Microsoft to see if they will cancel the key for my Home Premium edition so that I'll be able to download the Professional edition.

We'll see what happens. Here's a screenshot for those of you that haven't see so you can see how easy it is to not notice you can also purchase the Professional edition. (I added the red arrow by the way)

I installed the $30 Windows 7 Professional from Digital River using the 3-file method download, and everything went smooth yesterday. Although I had to run a "clean" install over the Windows 7 Ultimate RC, Windows did save all my "old" RC files in a Windows.old folder on my C drive... Sweet!

I finally learned how to create and burn a Windows 7 DVD from the Digital River files:

Place the 3 digital river files on the desktop on on the C drive
Download and place the extracted oscdimg utility in the System32 folder
Open the Administrator Command Prompt (in Vista) by going to Programs, Command Prompt, right-click and select run as Administrator. Copy

    oscdimg -u2 -b"C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com" -h "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Desktop\expandedSetup" C:\Win7.iso

where "user" is your computers or youruser name is put, and paste the into the Command Prompt window. Hit enter...

The Win7.iso file will be placed in C. I used DVD Decrypter to burn the iso file to a DVD

The Official ImgBurn Website is my first choice ... set it at a fairly slow level to burn the ISO to DVD.

Well making an iso and burning a DVD worked for me. Though I agree it's abit of a hassle compared to simply downloading an iso file.

    A couple of problems I had -
double click the .exe file which downloaded, to create the expanded setup folder ( don't right click and do the open as admin thing as this will give you the permissions error mentioned in the tutorial).
When you come to run the Oscdimg if tour like me you might find it just pops up a command line editor for a second then closes. If you go into start the accesories you can select the command line editor in there, that should stay open for you to add the lines of code needed to make the cd

    Digital River Order

I ordered and downloaded the 64 bit Home Premium Edition from Digital River and could not install it in my computer.

Digital River confirmed I could not upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit program with their offerings so I cancelled the order and ordered a full version of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit from Microsoft for the same price and no need to download as it is the retail version.
