Whoops, I broke it again. When shopping for a new PC, laptop, or ultrabook, make sure you investigate the terms of your warranty and the optional accidental damage coverage policies available to you.

    Very interesting article.

Made me laugh the reply someone made about Asus, I had brilliant service from them when my Notebook broke. Within a week of it breaking it had been picked up repaired and returned to me, they had fitted a new Motherboard.

Even the phone call to sort it out only cost me pence.

The manufacturers warranty runs out the 15th of this month but it's covered for another 2 years on extended cover for repair or replace, it cost me £98 for that.

I think such warranty on electronics is a tax ont he stupid. they have more markup on the warranty than on the product.

and if your device fails after a year, wouldn't you rahter buy a new one anyway?

and the repair cost prices quoted are ridiculous. LCD display repalcement $450? It only cost for me average Joe $100 to buy one and I'm sure i can repalce it for less than $350. adn then again, with today laptop prices, wouldn't you just buy a new one?
