Remote webcam activation without warning light confirmed: Johns Hopkin

    Posted: 19 Dec 2013
Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have positively confirmed the long-discussed ability of government entities and private parties to remotely activate a webcam without the warning light turning on. While this privacy vulnerability has already been anecdotally admitted by a variety of sources, this research is the first time it has been proven by an established public-facing organization. The results were published last week in a paper entitled "iSeeYou: Disabling the MacBook Webcam Indicator LED".

I still have the tape from the factory over mine. Guess my paranoia is somewhat founded...... don't know if I should be happy or sad about that

I deleted the web cam software on my notebook and put a circular piece of blue masking tape over the camera itself as soon as I got it.

Paranoia in my opinion is just another layer of security.
The F.B.I says they don't use it often. Really.

My webcam has a hard off switch not too mention I turn off/disable pretty much anything related to remote anything from another computer.

Ain't no government officials watching me change my clothes tonight, they probably wouldn't want to anyways I'm 30 year old grown man and got lots of unshaven hair.

Computer0304 tape works great. They can't write a program to remove the tape or go around it.

I hope they don't. But in the future, it might just happen. Well at least they would mostly use it for good.
