Satya Nadella named new CEO of Microsoft
Microsoft names Satya Nadella its next CEO

Read more....Microsoft has just announced that Satya Nadella would replace Steve Ballmer at the helm of the company, thus becoming the third CEO in the history of the software giant.
Just like recent rumors, Satya Nadella has the full support of chairman Bill Gates, who’s expected to work together with the new CEO on a number of projects.

This line in the linked article scares the snot out of me!
"Satya Nadella previously held the position of Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group."
Considering his former job description, I fear this means M$ is still bound and determined to go to all cloud or otherwise cloud dependent computing, screwing over all the people who don't have access to affordable, unlimited broadband connections.
Edit: I just saw these two videos of interviews with Nadella and Bill Gates; both put heavy emphasis on cloud computing. *&^%$#@!

I was hoping that Microsoft would choose someone from outside the company to bring in some "thinking outside of the box". I hope he can bring in some fresh ideas to energize the PC user base, but I fear he just may be perpetuating the current Microsoft business ideology.
I wish him luck along with Microsoft,
This whole rent a os/ office suite.... is a weird concept which might be successful or bust,
I'm personally not interested in Office 365 so any 365 os isn't going to go well with me either
I like everything what I can see, hear and understand about Nadella. He seems to be quite down to earth geek, I like the modified "Steve Jobs" look and feel.
Both videos Lady F. linked to earlier in this thread show a man with sense of responsibility and brain to share. Nobody, especially not Nadella is talking about a Chromebook like approach where user has only a kind of dummy terminal and everything needed is in the cloud. Local storage is not disappearing.
BTW, it's funny how everybody likes file sharing over the Internet but if you say it in other words, that you use cloud to share your files, the Hell starts freezing. Or how most private users use either an IMAP or Exchange mail service, everything stored in the cloud.
I simply fail to understand how can it be bad if I store my files on SkyDrive and access them from every possible device, everywhere in this globe of ours?
I'm satisfied that maker's of my OS (Windows 8.1) got captain I can respect. Ballmer was IMO a joke.
Good luck, Satya Nadella.

Sounds like the SOS to me.
Rent this program.
Rent this operating system.
Tablets for ever.
Cloud computing for everything.
I do wonder how business or corporation do business when the internet is down. When the internet goes down for me I just read a book or take a nap.
I guess that is what is expected of industry. Nap rooms or reading rooms for employes. When the 1MC screams the internet is up and working everybody goes back to work.
I understand many things have been in a cloud for quite some time but when the internet went down it didn't shut your business down like cloud everything.
