With the current GREED of ISP's and the TINY ridiculous monthly bandwidths allowed before you start paying extra - you'll get a FABULOUS 30 microseconds on free Internet per month - and then your bill will cost more than the monthly bill for a decent new large Mercedes car !!!!.
Surely there's a lesson here -- even on domestic levels faster and faster Internet connectivity is being rolled out - but unless bandwidth allowances are either uncapped or made much bigger than they are now the whole exercise becomes pointless.
Fortunately I have UNCAPPED or UNLIMITED usage but a lot of places don't have this.

But you're not going to be using these to connect your external hard drive up to your PC. Instead, these cables are headed for use in supercomputers and datacenters.
By combining up to 64 optical fibers, each capable of a transfer rate of 25Gbps, the cable is capable of a total transfer rate of 1.6Tbps. But because the MXC cable (in case you're wondering, MXC doesn't stand for anything) uses half the fibers for up and the other half for down, the transfer rate is cut to only 800Gbps.
