Not too bad...seems it forces aswell the install of OneDrive. For those not having any MS Office Suite or stand alone Office, the x64bits retail free will do well.

I tried it out. There are some limitations though, it requires a Microsoft account and forces you to store your notebooks on onedrive instead of your pc. And it does not allow you to use the password feature or the record audio and video feature.
So I would not store anything critical on there, but its pretty good for free.

As for OneDrive with Office i think you can change the location of the folder in the general parameters in OneNote.
Click the "File" tab brings you to "information on the notepad" and others options, "Properties" of the note lets you change the location.
In Options tab of OneNote you can either decide to check or uncheck box "Permit Office to connect to internet". Is a little hidden tab in the options "Center settings privacy management".
Which makes you able to work "Offline" with Office OneNote.
Yes, no record audio & video features and the need of MS account.

On March 17, Microsoft delivered both versions of its electronic note-taking and organizational application.
Microsoft is broadening OneNote's platform support so as to better compete with rivals, especially Evernote, on the note-taking/organizational front.
OneNote for Mac is available for download from the Mac App Store as of today. It's the first time OneNote has been available for the Mac. Previously, OneNote was available for Windows, Windows 8, Windows Phone, iPad, iPhone, Android tablets, Android phones and the Web (OneNote Online, formerly known as OneNote Web App).
A free version of OneNote for the Windows desktop also is available for download from OneNote.com as of today. Previously, Microsoft made free versions of OneNote available for Windows 8, Windows Phone and the Web. But until today, users of older versions of Windows had to pay for the OneNote app as part of Microsoft's Office suite.
