Microsoft Abandons Windows 8.1

Quote:
Windows 8.1 Update is a cumulative update to Windows 8.1,” said Microsoft Senior Product Marketing Manager Ben Hunter in an apparently innocuous blog post aimed at IT professionals. Then came the clanger: “It also becomes the new servicing baseline for Windows 8.1, so next month’s security updates (on May 13th, the next ‘Patch Tuesday’) will be dependent on Windows 8.1 Update.”
In English: Windows 8.1 will no longer receive security updates after 13 May. This is your 4 week countdown warning.

Doesn't make much sense,
Seems Microsoft/ Gates is a bit bitter,
I don't ever remember the death of x-p ever being delayed
I suppose all of these free downloads is catching up to Microsoft ?

Actually, the death of XP was delayed a couple of years.

Threads like this certainly brings back memories of how XP was first received...

Reminds me of times, when I didn't want to let go of Windows 2000...

Wasn't xp supposed to be dead around 2010?

Yeah, about Win 8. So you can't stay on an older version? Does MS still support users with only Windows 8 and who doesn't have 8.1?

I don't see the connection,
8.0 is only 15-16 months old and Microsoft is dumping support

No worries Lady... it happens
Although I'm sure you've used that symbol many times
