Once again idiots are getting media attention. I really want to see a busy office with 100s of phones and tablets doing work. Bleah!

No wonder MS is itself becoming irrelevant. MS is making Linux look a lot better.
Well Ubuntu could be an exception as many are hating the Unity interface as much as Metro.

That is true. But Mint Mate would be a good starting point.

I really don't understand the whole thought patter.
If by chance Microsoft and Nokia made the best phone and tablet that has ever been made and sold it cheap what the hell does that have to do with laptops and desktops.

Cell phones don't replace PC. Just because people buy a fancy phone doesn't mean they wouldn't also buy and use a PC.
Is their some international law that states you can't use both and own both at the same time?

That's like saying if you make the best wrist watch people are going to buy them and throw away all the clocks in homes and businesses. No more clocks in government building either.
I must be a real dumb person. I don't see how one replaces the other.

    They are corporations following trends,

Gartner Says Worldwide Traditional PC, Tablet, Ultramobile and Mobile Phone Shipments On Pace to Grow 7.6 Percent in 2014

    Another interesting bit of info,

Post-PC era - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't think the PC is on it's way out it's just getting moved down the ladder in market shares.

They are going to follow the money, and people are buying mobile devices more than PC's.

Not to mention most mobile devices are replaced with new ones much faster than PC's are replaced, that's just more money for them.

Gartner is a serious company. I wonder what the 'Others' in the operating systems are. If MS puts more losers of the kind on the stage, they may kill the PC even faster.

I do believe you are correct Derek. I don't blame Microsoft and Nokia for wanting a big piece of the portables market. That is just good business.
To state the PC market is going away because we now make portables is just dumb to me. That Nokia clown seems to think he is the one that is going to make it happen.
I'm thinking people will buy both portables and PC's.
I wonder how many people on this forum do that right now.

That guy is just another "Idiot getting attention" as Gary said, they wanted a story and he gave them one.

As long as there is a market for PC's they will be around.

As for people on this forum who buy both, have a look in the who's online,

On the right side you'll see a lot of mobile icons.

What bites my backside (besides tall dogs with poor taste) is M$ just got rid of one idiot in upper management and now has another one (and from a failing company, no less).

That is not uncommon. The guys who make the biggest mess get the best promotions. How else would anybody know they existed.
