Personally I've never used anything other than the w7 start menu nor do I know of any that have to be installed for it to work out of the box.

Would absolutely like 8 with it's new fixes, But it's UI is harder to use we aren't even using AIOs or Laptops with Touch Screens

Start/All Programs/Accessories/Paint, right click, pin to Start Menu.
