Well, kind of weird, I'm posting this from my Windows Phone. It isn't that bad and I feel it is simple and easy to use than my Mom's Android. (But my Android tablet is way better though.

But guys WP8 is a bit power hungry, at least not much worse than Samsung when they started putting their TouchWiz UI Which made their android phones sluggish at some point.

Well, if you look at the WW figures, IOS does not look that great either. Android seems to eat everybody. Their strengths are the apps.

I agree, and the case also holds true for Windows as well. An operating system or ecosystem gets popular not necessarily because of itself, but rather based on the criteria of what software it can run.

People don't run Windows because it's Windows, people run Windows because it can run their favorite games, media players, productivity applications, and so forth. In fact the vast majority of computer users don't even know what Windows is, let alone what version of Windows they're using; they are using the computer for their software they want to use.

While there is that other topic being discussed about how the grand majority of software in app stores are "zombies", it would be frivolous to not consider the software selection as one of the major reasons why Android is so popular and why Windows Phone has failed to garner much appeal.

Those Indian numbers look reasonable. India was a stronghold of Nokia.
