Hi there
Well I still have stuff that CAN'T be run on anything else - so my XP system will outlast W7 by a considerable margin -- I can STILL see myself using it until about 2020 (If I'm still around then) and if my old gear is still working. (I'm running XP on as a Virtual machine so there's no hurry for me to get rid of it).
People still like the VINYL records I cut for them (need XP for the hardware and software for cutting the old records) -- I can still make 78 RPM's ( 10" / 12") if people want them too as well as 45's and standard LP albums -- It's quite interesting hearing a modern RAPPER being played on a 78 on a Wind up antique Horn grampohone (like the old HMV machines!!) - and I really love using portable Minidisc recorders at gigs etc - nothing else comes close in making excellent recording on the go -- these devices will only work on XP too.
(ATRAC3 is the old SONY proprietary format - especially ATRAC3 lossless - only XP though can get the audio off the minidisc into FLAC / WAV / other formats which I can then use for cutting Vinyl etc.)
I have quite a bit of other gear which is too expensive to replace so my XP system lives on even though I'm running down my W7 system(s).
I don't need to replace my old Vinyl cutting hardware and software --irt would cost several THOUSAND dollars just on the hardware alone. So in my case XP still rules !!!!!.
Cheers
