    Hummm,
I loaded all of the important ones,
So there were only three optional ones left,
    The two others,
Kb-2980245-2952664 are still there so they must of pulled a couple important ones ?
Post what important ones you show if you wouldn't mind Lady,
    Cheers.

Microsoft finally pulled the update from being offered,
Checked for updates and it's no longer listed :)
Kb-2970228 Dropped like a hot potato
MS was pretty quick to fix the IE modial dialog problem.

This one must be giving them a heck of time.

If those are optional, why are they listed under Important and not Optional?

They could be classified as recommended,
If you have the box checked to give you recommended updates the same as important ones they're bunched together,

    They have revised the:

    Article ID: 2982791 - Last Review: August 16, 2014 - Revision: 4.0
MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 12, 2014.

Therefore Microsoft is providing a step-by-step workaround solution to properly remove the offending updates article IDs.

    Edit:
Uninstalled the Article ID: 2970228 & the Article ID: 2982791...they do not are proposed on Windows Update anymore. Let's wait now they fix them...:)

Very interesting. I wish I'd seen this sooner!

I'm another guy who got caught by this. Installed all of the updates Wednesday AM and the system came through the post-install reboot just fine. Perhaps that startup is when the offending patch was actually installed? Anyway, started the box that evening and *boom* BSOD at startup (0x0050 page fault in nonpaged memory) every time. Not even safe mode worked.

Swapping the memory SIMMs didn't help (and now I know why) so I got a new hard drive and restored from a backup made the previous Sunday which, of course, was before the nasty patches.

Everything has been running fine since then -- but maybe I'll wait another couple of days before applying the latest round of patches. ::sigh::

PS Surprised that news of this didn't show up on El Reg or Ars.

I didn't update until Saturday (I always wait until at least then incase a problem like this crops up), a day or two after M$ pulled the three offending updates. So far, no problems.
