I'm just glad I review optional updates,
The ruble update was nonsense and discarded as such

I don't have any rubles, I don't want any rubles and I surly don't need a ruble update.

Sorry for being away from the forum for a few days. FYI both my machines are laptops. I don't think it has much to do with being junked up with stuff. My 5 year old Lenovo has lots of stuff, graphics programs, web site tools, etc. My grandson's 6 year old ASUS g51v is almost pristine except for a couple of MMP games. He bought it just for games and has a desktop that gets the abusive stuff.
As for the question about the restarting, if you haven't, my advice is don't until you have removed the update. I worked on his for a couple of days while my ran fine. Then I restarted and haven't been able to use it since.
I have his ASUS back up, but not finished. Before I researched this and targeted the KB update, I attacked the ASUS with some 'fix-it' disks and things went from bad to worse. I thought I could restore...nope. I tried repairing the MBR and no joy I kept trying fixes until I killed his HD. unable to repartition, unable to format, gone. I replaced it with a solid state HD and installed a download Win 7. Man, it 'pops'! I want a SSHD for myself. But now the problem is digging around trying to find old paperwork to get a workable key. I did get his original key, but it will not work for the downloaded OS. Called MS and found no help.

Thanks for the info. Being just an end user, I can't understand any of it. So I guess it will trickle down, right? Also, it seems MS says they have fixed the issue when they pulled the update. As for me, that didn't fix MY issue. There are plenty of instructions about what to do to fix or avoid a problem if your computer is operable on Windows. Not much help for a machine that is looping through start to start-up repair and back to start again.
As to adding 3rd party stuff, yep, I have most of the ones you mention. I go back to about Windows 2.0. Adding 3rd party stuff has always been part of the fun. Are you doing something wrong, yeah I think so. Man, you are missing out on LOTS of fun stuff if all you do is run virgin MS Windows. As for not having problems with updates, I am sure I have had Automatic Updates turned on since the day MS offered it. This is my first problem.
I will be back in a few days with more updates to my saga.

It's people who have a lot of Adobe fonts as shortcuts installed.
Is this documented anywhere, do you have link(s) confirming this is the issue ?
    See Eliyas Yakub's post

Blue Screen (Stop 0x50) after applying update KB2982791 to - Microsoft Community

there's more discussion of the font issue throughout the thread (hence the need to delete & recreate fntcache.dat)

Thanks I guess they did pull one important one too ?
You do have two optional updates listed there,
    Attachment 329368

Also I have the same list of patches(For avoid any inconveniences, I always wait a few days before install any new patches)

    Now...
If I'm not mistaken, they released a patch(KB2993651) that fixes the problems caused by two previous patches. I am thinking to install all patches, except the new one(wait to see some comments about the patch). There would be no problem ?
