Microsoft Black Tuesday Patches Bring Blue Screens of Death

I was unaffected.
I have to say, It has been a long time since something like this has happened. Hopefully it stays that way and more hopefully doesn't come back!

From what I've read, the problems some people have had appear to have been from software conflicts. I always wait until Friday to download and install M$ updates. So far, on the rare occasions when M$ has released a faulty update, M$ has always pulled or fixed the offender by then so I've yet to get burned. When one considers the number of hardware/software combinations that are possible, it's a miracle that M$ has done as well as it has when it comes to avoiding conflicts with its updates, then responding so quickly when the rare problem crops up.

2 Win 7 machines killed by update, 1 OK
Wednesday my grandson brought his laptop to me, Win 7 would not start and went to ' startup repair' program. However no repair worked. When I tried to go to a restore point, the only one there appeared to be one automatically done before last update. The restore point did not repair his machine.
I'm afraid I have finished driving a stake into its heart by some of the repair disks I have laying around and ran on his machine, trying to restore partitions, etc. I think it will take a full reinstall of Win 7. Of course, no, he does not have (never had) a Win 7 disk. SOL, riight?
Here is the kicker. This morning when I restarted all the machines in my 'command central' my Lenovo laptop is dead in exactly the same way. Startup repair does not work and cannot find a restore point except one from just a couple days ago, when I shut down and all the (17 I think) were done. So his laptop is bricked and so is mine.
I am not a conspiracy theorist, but suppose we both took this occasion to upgrade to Win 8? (Microsoft's current Vista failure OS) and a lot of others too, maybe that would boost MS's bottom line...Naw, the world's not filled with mega corporations that intentionally gig the little guy, right?

You can download the latest Win 7 ISO for your licensed version and do a clean install.
You do need a readable valid COA key for this.
This tutorial has everything needed, including where to get the Win 7 ISO.

Agreed. I give MS props as well.

True that.
