I'm saving a place for Windows 9 on one of my SSDs.

I've never even seen Windows 8.

Yeah, I don't get out much.

I will be doing the same

I was kinda liking the early screenshots of the new Start Menu in Threshold, but the recent ones, I'm not sure what to think of them yet. I'll definitely be trying out the Technical Preview nevertheless; but something tells me I'll be sticking to 8.1 until a more advanced preview.

We are but eternal optimists Steve but if recent past performances are any indication, I'm not holding my breath. Bugger me, they get near perfection with W7 and now want to fry us all.
Like ABBA sang.....money money money, it's a rich man's world!!

I too...i found quite OK the start menu in the new coming OS, but its just that too much RSS feed. I know you can disable most them within the operating system, but its taking much attention to navigate through the settings.

Great side-by-side NoN.
It is that cartoon-y look, compared to the "sophisticated" look of W7, that just throws me.
It looks like something that belongs on a kid's Speak-and-Spell.

I believe Microsoft is still determined to use very large blocks for touch screens,
But what is weird they can not adjust for screens without touch interface capabilities :/

So start-8 will have to become start-9

But I doubt I will use a beta 9 though :/
