I have spent hours reading reviews and looking at benchmarks since release and they all come to the same conclusion that they outperform the previous generation nicely.

Even the reference cards perform amazingly. The 970 easily beats the 780 in everything I have seen and beats the 780ti in many.
The 980 easily beats the 780ti in everything I have seen.

Everything I have read says the same thing. Don't upgrade until the EVGA 980 Classified comes out. It's worth it.
