I don't think they are planning on rushing this one out like they did Vista. From what I've seen it's a huge improvement over 8.x (though I'm not convinced it's enough of an improvement to warrant abandoning Win 7 yet) and the lead time from the preview to actual release is much greater. I'm sure that, at least in part, they learned their lesson with 8.x.

Played a little last night, and today for a few hours off and on, but I'm not overly impressed. Keeping in mind that I do not use the following:

IE, Bing, Xbox, one drive, outlook and many social media outlets (very rarely used),

so the live tiles are pointless to me. I don't like bing's news or sports feed IMO, which were the two tiles I was hoping to actually give a chance, but since they can't be customized (which I understand from a business POV) they're out unless I can somehow create live tiles with the news and sports feeds I prefer. I guess the weather tile is acceptable, but my menu only has that and the feedback tile left. The search everywhere (again not a bing fan) is cool, but my Internet browser loads up in a flash with one click and loads to the search engine of my choice so I get the results a lot faster and from where I want. Also I can't seem to remove the search and desktop icons from the task bar, so I'm still trying to figure that out as well

Not a fan of the borderless windows and the general look, but third party software will fix that in the future. Task manager is nice. I haven't' run any bench marks on performance, so I'll reserve judgment until then, but if you took 8.1 and slapped some makeup over the blemishes, it feels like 10. If MS is going to use a car analogy so will I:

My car is six years old and runs beautifully (especially since I take care of it much like we do with our pcs) and I know each year this company puts out the new model of the same car, with some performance upgrades, not an overhaul or anything, but marginal gains as well as some new bells and whistles, but is it worth throwing down 25,000 for a new car? Not for me, since my current car runs with no hang ups and the performance boost from buying the newer versions are marginal to slightly significant at best.

My current PC (not laptop) runs with no hang ups and I have no complaints. Sure an increase of performance is nice, but if the performance of my current set up has no real downside, hang ups or what not, why would I change it? I'll play with it as I go, but I feel as though I've already seen this OS with 8.1

I forgot to mention that I am in love with the quad snap feature, I generally work with three or four windows open so this is a feature I am praising big time

Yea I'm sure Europe will have fun suing Microsoft for all of the built in apps and Microsoft account making in the install
It's ios not an email account Microsoft
Possibly someone will do it in the u.s. and Microsoft will stop associating email accounts with computers logins ?

Hi there

you don't have to use a ms account to install --works fine with a LOCAL account - simply disconnect from the internet and you won't get the Ms account prompt but go straight to local user. Re-connect to internet after creating local account.

No probs --same way as Win 8.1

Cheers

You might like a little program called Divvy. While not as slick as Win 10's quad snap, it's still pretty slick and is far more versatile. I've been using the free demo version for several years now.

Yea I installed on top of 8.1 with 10 so it already realized I had a local account,
10 still wanted a email address so I gave it one gmail with a wrong password
Gave it some fun but it finally said continue without one

Disconnect from internet on an install ? I doubt I would ever do that willingly
