Actually, from what I've been reading, it still may be 10, just rapid cycle upgraded to death.

I agree, no problems with staying with Win 7 until early 2020. I probably will stay with Win 7 unless Win 9 10 proves to be a spectacular improvement over Win 7.
They could make an improvement, if people like you were not lazy and participated in giving your feedback. I don't mean that in a rude way, just using your own words where you said before you were lazy and did not feel like downloading it. Did not mean that rudely at all, just saying people should download it, throw it into a vm and participate in the feedback section. There is a ton of amazing ideas in there already, with high votes. Let your vote count, and even make new feedback ideas that other people can upvote. Seriously, what's the worst thing that happens? Your feedback gets ignored. But if no one votes, nothing will change.

Its different if you give feedback and microsoft ignores it like they did with 8. But this time they built a whole entire app dedicated to it, and as you type your idea it searches and finds others ideas like yours which make it easy to upvote. It may be stupid to believe, but I really think that microsoft is going to listen to feedback this time. They have to get this version right, they just have to.

Yes you can vote with your feet as well, but it looks to me that microsoft is making the best attempt at getting feedback like they did with windows 7.

When I click on the Search icon in the taskbar it opens a blank window.
I can't type anything into the window, so it does nothing.
Does this Search window work this way for anyone else ?

I have Win 10 installed as a VM.

You make a valid point (and no offense taken ) but my saying I'm lazy was my lazy way of explaining why I don't want to download it, at least for now. I find it very frustrating to learn new software (it's an ADHD thing). It's much easier for me to wait, watch, and learn from others before diving in. I don't have much incentive to change from an OS I'm already happy and comfortable with and is compatible with programs and hardware I already have and am also happy and comfortable with unless Win 9+1 should prove to be something really spectacular without backwards compatibility issues. Even though I had no issues with Win 7 and felt it was a superior OS than XP, I stayed with XP for several years after Win 7 came out because of hardware and software incompatibilities; I didn't want to shell out the shekels to replace perfectly good hardware until I had gotten my money's worth out of them and one piece of software would have cost me $400 to replace (I later got lucky and got off for $220). When I was planning my present rig, I made a decision to put win 7 on it and bought retail versions of it (two Ultimate and one Home Premium although, for the life of me, I don't know why I bought the latter ), fully intending to stick with Win 7 to its last dying gasp (actually, I would upgrade something during the year before). I'm not the kind of person who has to have the latest and greatest as long as what I have meets my needs, especially since I'm on a fixed income. I also have other irons in the fire that I either need to or would rather spend my time on rather than fooling around with a new OS I may or may not like.

did you double check your hash value after downloading? I did to make sure nothing was wrong with the file. You would be amazed how easy it is when a lot of people are downloading the same file for it to be corrupted.

I'm one of those that really don't care what them name the new operating system. I do think they had a good reason though.

    1. Microsoft wanted to start the chatter; which it has done.
    2. Microsoft wanted to leave the impression that the new operating system was not just a few tweaks with a new number.
The name 10 hopefully will indicate major changes that will suit portables and desktops like we all been asking (bitching) for.

I haven't downloaded Windows 10 for one reason.
I in the middle of updating one of my computers which I already got close to a hundred hours in. I do not want to experiment with installing anything on my working computer. Hopefully when the rest of my parts come in and I'm satisfied with my new build I will be able to install Windows 10 on a clean SSD and through the use of a hot swap bay be able to boot 7 or 10 as I so choose.
I'm not a slackie I'm just very busy.

I do thank all of you that spend the time and testing so we get a great operating system. I know your input to Microsoft will be helpful.
I have got 16 hours today alone working on this new computer. I just wanted to take a break and see what was happening on the forum.

Luck to all of us with Windows 10.
Now I got to eat and sleep.

No, I didn't check the hash value.
How can I check it for the file I downloaded ?

I downloaded English 32-bit (x86) from here and can see what the hash value should be.
