The error link I posted says:
Quote:
If you still receive this error after checking your Internet connection, it might mean that a program running on your computer is preventing Windows Update Services from accessing the Internet. Programs that might do this include firewalls, antispyware software, web accelerators, Internet security or antivirus programs, or proxy servers.
But I find that hard to believe since you didn't have any problems with the others.

A look at your .CBS logs would be the next thing to check, to see if there are any errors in there pointing to 2664.

You can open them by following this Tutorial; Section #4 Log Collection, down to step #3 Click to open and read. It might take a few seconds as the .CBS file is large and it opens in Notepad.

You can check to see if KB2952664 is already installed. This update has been repeated a number of times over the last few months.
To check to see if it is installed even though it shows as failed in your Windows Updates section, click on Installed Updates & see if it installed in the 14th Oct list. If it did right click on it & select Uninstall. After it has uninstalled re-run Check for Updates again & it should download & install & it should now show as Successful.

Didn't MS just sack a large number of employees recently?

My PC performed a double reboot too.

There were some updates a couple of months ago that did the same thing.

Yeah, i too it happened in the past to reboot twice.
Guess some updates have to trigger on their own side. That's also why sometimes you could find unchecked updates along the ones in WU.

I also do them in groups generally, .Net Frameworks, Security Updates then Updates & last one is the MSRT .

Now that you mention it, I believe I remember the same.

To me, an update rebooting while updating indicates it needs to do this with a minimum of OS running as if it needed "Safe Mode" to move beyond a point and finish its task.
