I hope this is just a rumour!! that's expensive
First, let me start off with a warning. This information came to me via an anonymous tip and is not from a trusted source of mine. That aside, the reason I'm putting this in the rumor box for now is that there is pricing for Windows 7 Starter, which we know will be sold worldwide, but only via OEMs. Ultimate pricing is also present, and while Microsoft says it will not be selling that edition via retail, the company did say that it will sell and give away the edition during certain promotional periods. Now, without further ado, here is the rumored pricing for Windows 7 editions (not the upgrade versions):
Full Story: Rumor: pricing for the Windows 7 editions - Ars Technica
- Windows 7 Starter: $199
- Windows 7 Home Premium: $259
- Windows 7 Professional: $299
- Windows 7 Ultimate: $319
WOW! Thats higher than Vista when it was released, XP still costs like $100 just for pro, they need to come down for me to purchase, otherwise I'll keep resetting the BIOS clock back & use the beta forever!!
Nice idea. But you'll obviously loose all updates and the ability to update should you find need to reinstall..
Mr GRiM
Same here, as the retail only entitles you to M$ help and support. Which is something that i'm sure most people won't need to call upon during the time that 7 is installed. Well i won't anyway :)I hope the OEM version will be allot cheaper, that's what I will be getting.
Wouldn't know... Never been stupid enough to spend time on the phone with a chimp when i can visit forums with people that are actually in the know...
I wish Microsoft would be like apple and just sell 1 or 2 version in 32 bit and 64 bit. i love windows don't get me wrong. But having so much different versions gets people confused on what they may need and its kinda not necessary to have this much versions and then the pricing well thats just unreasonable. First pack is basic and it runs 200 bucks....
