Win10 Does Not Violate Your Privacy

Windows 10 collects information so the product will work better for you.
You are in control with the ability to determine what information is collected.

I think this should also be included to get a better picture of what Microsoft is going to do.

It's MS' own fault.
They repeatedly made vague statements and then claimed they didn't make them or they changed them.
It's been one of the main characteristics of the W10 release saga.

Once people started complaining that their machines still sent data, even after disabling everything, it became inevitable that this would become a big issue.

It's possible that these reports are all related to:

• Installing the wrong version (i.e. the Insider Preview)
• A glitch during the install
• User error

The fact that this is probably the biggest issue, shows how much better W10 is compared to the W8 series.

I was specifically referring to the "everyone gets free W10" and "lifetime of the device" incidents.
There was also some waffle about "pirated software" and "illegal(?) hardware".

They shouldn't be storing all of that info.
Username and Password are required for online logins (maybe Requesting IP is OK too).

If companies weren't storing MBs of data on their customers/users no body could hack them to get it.
It's another example of how Governments let companies get away with stuff.

The BoDs of Sony, Target, etc. (not the companies) should have all been personally fined billions of dollars.
If that was the rule you'd soon see significant changes in what data companies collect and how they secure it.

You'd have to review the apps you can use to figure that out
Edge and some of the news apps do not require a M$ account to open so those will collect.... no matter if you use a M$ account or not
You just can't really access the setting to opt out or access adds choice or what ever it is called ?

But as far as I've read the mail app will read emails in the name of controlling spam....
All of the apps I know of the terms are pretty much the same as before win-10's release so nothing new there so they apply to the service you use.

Being that the os is intertwined with all of the built in apps it is difficult to find anything specific to using a local account and what applies to that use,

So the confusion is on M$'s side they just can't get on the same page as their own lawyers
