Luckily I'm in the UK so it's patch Wednesday for us - we let our American friends test things out for us on the Tuesday

October 13th 2015 Security Update Release Summary

Today we released security updates to provide protections against malicious attackers. As a best practice, we encourage customers to apply security updates as soon as they are released.

More information about this month’s security updates and advisories can be found in the Security TechNet Library.

Still waiting for them to finish downloading on my Windows 8.1 computer and I will let everybody know, how they go when they are done downloading and installing

Wonder if they'll throw in another round of 10/telemetry updates for good measure?

I'm prepared for another game of update ping-pong.

Edit: Oh, they've just shown up, early for me as I'm in the UK.
Only security updates so no ping-pong!

Contrary to what MS claim, best practice is most definitely not to apply the updates as soon as they are released. I wish that were still the case, but sadly it no longer is. I prefer to wait a few days for Susan Bradley to look over each one and make her recommendations (as well as checking the experience of those posting here) following which I wait another couple of days to see if there are any repercussions from those recommendations, and if in any doubt I then look to see what other experts like Woody Leonhard are saying on the subject.

Unfortunately we're in a situation these days where the balance between the risk of encountering problems from not installing updates and the risk of encountering problems from installing them has shifted, and not in MS's favour.

I'm in the UK and haven't been offered any updates yet today. It's usually after I switch on the computers on the Wednesday.

They showed up for me - there's an optional one that puts the W10 hint on your taskbar. The others seem to be security updates

    I got these installed:

Was also offered a repackaged KB3083710 which I do not need on Windows 7 Home Premium. So I hid it.

These showed up this morning. Oddly enough, I did a system image last night as a normal scheduled backup. No W10 updates that I can see.

Update: Here's a bit of a laffer. If I try to look at the "more information" page for the IE cumulative update, IE11 will stop working. Any attempt to go to the URL will crash IE11 and the reload after the Windows check. Works fine on FF v41.0.2. Here's the linked URL:
