Nothing much to comment about. Somebody not involved whatsoever with Windows 7 development made some random statement which wasn't really accurate. As far as graphics and look and feel goes...I think Windows 7 looks better hands down.

Microsoft has recanted, the employee that made this statement has indicated he screwed up.

The employee is now probably working for Apple. Could be one of those 800 employees MS released.

Not really comment worthy. All companies are "inspired" by other ideas. No big deal :)

MS as we know it today owes a lot to 'inspiration'

I would suggest that this is a non issue as if you develop two things to perform the same task similarities in look and feel is virtually inevitable.

Did Henry Ford copy the layout of his cars from the existing Mercedes models, or did he simply use a similar layout because that was the required set up for a working vehicle.

Well, it doesn't really matter to me. I use the Classic Widows scheme with a solid color on two machines. It is crisp and easy to read and I love it. Much like my old OS/2 that I used up until XP.

Ahh OS/2 Warp, now THERE was an elegant OS for it's time, and not just in UI! Too bad IBM abandoned it, I think that had IBM been more aggressive that the whole "Mac vs. PC" thing would be much different today (as in OS/2 would be Windows major competitor). Oh how I miss thee BetaMax and HD-DVD
