    I agree with you.

I do wonder what will happen after the free upgrade expires.
You mean free upgrade offer expires right? The free upgrade remains free for the life of the device once you do it.

One would hope they stop pushing the update via Windows update. If you haven't upgraded by then you likely never will.
    alphanumeric;

Yes, I meant when the free upgrade offer expires. (I think I said that correctly).

Also, Microsoft should no longer list windows 10 as a recommend update as well when the free upgrade offer expires.

    Turning off Windows Update, Permanently.
It's the only way to be sure.

Soon MS will reclassify it as a "Security Update".
Best way to be sure is to make a system image before every update and then you can always restore back to your previous OS
I always create Macrium Reflect backup images before installing the Patch Tuesday updates. :)

    Gee thanks MS.
When are we going to see an article about making it easier to permanently block W10?

Get Windows 10 Icon - Remove from Taskbar in Windows 7 and 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums

Upgrade to Windows 10 Update - Enable or Disable in Windows 7 or 8.1 - Windows 10 Forums
That isn't MS making it easy.

Would changing all users (except one) to standard users prevent updates & upgrades in windows 7 from Microsoft not the user?

It's the way I use it with home premium since it has no group policy
Yes only 1 admin account all others standard
Uncheck the box in the admin account to let all users install updates.

The only way it 10 will slip by is if you missed it along with any other new features Recommended or Optional updates.

Maybe not, look at second paragraph in quote from M$ updates statement. This is why I have updates turned OFF, and check manually once in a while. This has no bearing on MSE as it still updates on its own
    Art.

    Choice and control

Update Services are turned on if you choose one of the following settings: (a) install updates automatically; (b) download updates but let me choose whether to install them; or (c) check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them. The Windows Update service is turned on and set to "Install updates automatically" when you choose the express settings during Windows setup.
If you turn on the Update Services, regardless of which setting you have chosen, required updates to some components of the service will be downloaded and installed automatically without further notice to you. If you would prefer not to receive required updates, turn off the Update Services

I guess I will have to keep a look out for the $Windows.~BT folder and make sure it doesn't get created when I am using windows 7.

So if I understand this even if you have MS updates set to "Never Check for updates (Not Recommended)" it may still update?

Does this mean I have to turn off the related services as well to neuter the beast?
