TB would have been great if they didn't keep loading it with clutter.

I prefer the K.I.S.S. method (Keep It Simple Stupid) so I use PostBox which suits my needs completely.

Oh, I forgot to mention that is costs a few dollars. Sorry.

^^^ Am using TB because of it's absolute lack of clutter. And years of use with absolute stability. Whoever takes over, don't touch anything, just provide security updates if needed :O)

When I was working (15 years ago) I liked MS Outlook a lot, but since then I've tried a few email-only clients and TBird is far/away the nicest I have found at least for my needs. It does have Chat that I'll never use, and I don't do much with RSS/Blogs, but otherwise it's nice and clean IMO.

The only thing I REALLY don't like about it; if you do a global Search it's not easy to find where the heck the resulting emails are located (what dir/subfolder). I do have many folders and subfolders.

I have been using PostBox (fork of TBird) for the last 3 years.
    - yes it costs ... $10/PC in 2012, now about $12
    - only gripe is support is FAQs -OR- $10 per problem (email) ... no forum

In 2012 I changed from TBird to Postbox, but am about to install TBird on a new Win7 PRO 64bit because of very good support from MozillaZine forum.

Rediscovered TBird on a Linux Mint PC I set up 9 months ago (TBird and FFox come with Mint install)
    - Postbox on Linux (and Win7) has been very stable (provided I keep up with housekeeping -- 2000 mails in inbox)
    - Firefox is unstable (fails to render completely) on both Linux PC and Windows PC
    - (currently using PaleMoon browser, very stable and excellent active forum

Oh heck, that is bad news. I've been using Thunderbird in conjunction with Firetrust's Mailwasher Pro since installing Windows 7 years ago and it suits me just fine. Never had any problems with it handling both POP and IMAP accounts.

Will need some serious help to get all my folders and contacts moved over to something like Outlook

Thunderbird isn't dead just yet, Snookie. It still works fine.

Version 38.5.0 is out today. I use Lightning Calendar as well and both work perfectly for my needs.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS

That's why I love it and am loathe to move away. It is purely and simply a great Email handling programme and does it without any unnecessary fuss.

I don't use a calendar on my desktop PC. Get enough pings and reminders from the one on iPad.

Oh yes and A MERRY CHRISTMAS one and all
