Thanks for the update. I was running happily with IE9 but upgraded to IE11.
No probs except it put a nag icon on taskbar about W10. I couldn't get rid of it until I found:
Attachment 379316 Worked like a champ. All is well on the western front.
    Thanks again.
Yikes 10 nag is included in ie11 now
No doubt it proved too difficult for them to add the nagware to IE8, IE9 & IE10, and thus those versions need to be eliminated.

I'll probably have to install Chrome on my gaming rig though darn on line only games
Already did install it in win-10 pro just a little while ago not on the win-7 side yet though.

TZ; That might have to do with Bd's lack of other updates.

And that's not all. After download, installing and updating IE11 I got an M$ update msg today to
    install 53MB of accumulated updates.

I was offered IE11 last Summer but hid it until I heard over the holidays about the end of support for 10. I unhid and installed IE11 and saw no 'W10 nags'. We use IE because the wife needs it for work.

I'm in the 'check, but let me decide' camp, I have 8 or 9, 10? related to W10, GWX, and others still hidden.
My last check for updates was at 06:23am est today, "all's quiet" so far for this 'Patch Tuesday'! When do they come out? 7am Pacific time?

    Not so sure
I just installed ie11 and for a 54mb file it has hung up installing on restart so it's obviously doing more than simply installing ie11
Now hung for 15 minutes :/
30 more minutes and it could of downloaded win-10

I don't know then, there are so many variables, my IE11 install didn't hang.
What I dislike is how long it takes for microsoft's servers to download the updates. Is there a registry or other config change that can be made to use a different server instead of the one your stuck with when using windows updates (WU)?

My January patches went okay except for the download/install time that seems to take forever, I start the process then walk away and work at something else around the house, come back in a half an hour and I'm ready for a restart. Any other 101MB download site would only take me about 2 maybe 3 minutes, not 15 to 20 through WU.
Yes, I do understand the millions of machines banging on the update servers at one time, but there's gotta be a better way.

Thelma, I have noticed that if I leave my MSE definition updates alone they will install themselves. It is the only behaviour that I do not mind even though I am in the 'Check, but let me decide' camp.

    Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10 support ends on January 12, 2016-tmse.png

Check in: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update\View update history, you should see blocks of MSE updates with descending version numbers.
