Windows 7's first 100 days: So how were yours?

I upgraded two home machines from XP to W7; one of them to x64. I like it even though similar problems re-occur. For instance once again it hangs on shutdown, just like XP was prone to do after installing various programs. And I notice Explorer is much more apt to crash, but at least it restarts itself with W7.

I was most pleased with the x64 version. I fully expected most of my 3-year old peripherals to not have drivers (printer, scanner, webcam) but in fact they did and W7 loaded them itself without any fuss. I had to locate and download 3 x64 drivers myself: an obscure USB-RS232 cable and Microsoft's own wireless keyboard and mouse!

W7 will become a classic Microsoft OS like XP is now. I really hope they can continue to make careful improvements and not majorly screw it up in subsequent versions like the move from Office 2003 to 2007.

Nevertheless I like it enough that we will now be getting only W7x64 machines at work, even though it means filling out more paperwork (our standard is still XPx86).

Other than the endless problems that everyone seems to be having with NIC drivers, BSOD's, outdated drivers, outdated firmware, on and on and on. I havn't had any problems what so ever. I think it's amazing how much time I spend tracking down problems when I don't even had any?

Probably a good idea to update that ethernet driver if you can.

Mi first 55 days... I guess, working great in my Sony VAIO , the only trouble was the hunt of the memory stick driver, but I found it here. It came in compressed format (zip), but it's working fine.. fast and reliable...

Been using Windows 7 32bit/64bit since last Beta now using Pro 64bit very happy with it.

Blue screen from HP Remote Control session

The Windows 7 operating system, will turn into blue screen if the HP technician will do a remote control session to install the HP printer or any device.

If you guys are happy with your Windows 7 OS, am not. Look, I have two laptops which I have both upgraded to Windows 7. I had my gateway 32bit upgraded by a computer repair shop due to error in downloading the service pack 1 which is a prerequisite before you can upgrade to Windows 7. I did the upgrade on my Toshiba
64bit which is a hassle.

I had both running in Windows 7 OS and the only thing good is speed in booting. both laptops are unstable exactly the same characteristic. Unstable, overlapping text and size varies from site to site. When I log in to my google mail the texts became bigger compared to the text when I'm on my homepage. When I log in to my yahoo mail, the texts became very small and the tab in the left side overlapped. I have document files which I cannot open and play which used to be okay with both laptops on Windows Vista. More, I have video files which I can play on both laptops now my Windows 7 media player cannot play it.

I would appreciate it if anyone can help me on these problems.

Installed w7 just two weeks ago. Coming from xp I was gun shy to switch to w7 but I did it and never regretted the decision! This is the best OS since xp and I see now that the hails on how good w7 was were justified. Have some probs with my graphics card but I think its because of the new drivers. No others problems.
