Windows 7: It's time for Microsoft to fix the Windows 7 update slowdowns

It seems that shutdown updates to Windows 7 are rare to come by. They usually take a considerably long time to install, even if it's one update. I even see warm updates even less, and it's set to check automatically. I've disabled the Group Policy setting that allows 7 to notify me of upgrade updates (as 10 can't run for me ), but I still feel like they're slowing down our updates so that we'll update to 8.1 and then 10, or straight to 10 from 7.

Deliberate Tactic

IMO, it won't be fixed as it is a deliberate tactic employed by MS to make W7 look bad (to force people to upgrade to W10).

That's rather generous of you.

There seem to have been a few "Happy Accidents" related to MS' attempts to force everyone to use W10.

Additional
I just tried to get this month's updates.
Windows Update was taking so long and using so many resources that all of my PC fans started running flat out.

I had to disable Windows Update just to calm my PC down.

As someone who is very cynical regarding Microsoft, their policies, goals and tactics, I'd say you're spot on.

Man this is a real bummer. When the opportunity arises for me to do business with MS I will not forget this.

Same experience here with the W7 update, while W8.1 had no issues at all in the same network. As the matter of fact the W8.1 update was downloading at 60Mb/s, while W7's just did nothing for hours...

It's somewhat understandable why MS does this, if you read the quarterly financial report from MS, quote:

Quote:
Search revenue was up significantly, growing by 18 percent in constant currency, thanks to both higher revenue per search and higher search volume. 35 percent of search revenue in March was driven by Windows 10, indicating that the Bing and Cortana integration in Windows 10 is yielding dividends.

Of course MS will push as hard as it can for W10, there's nothing better than pushing ads in the OS. Except maybe Google for the time being...

As I've said, I've given up updating, except for my wife's laptop, which mercifully updates OK. Maybe because she's never complained about Microsoft? Whereas I have trashed them numerous times?

Thank God for Linux.

Yes and no. Yahoo claims they are up for sale but is making it as difficult as possible for potential buyers.
