Anyone know if Outlook (2010) will sync with smartphones? I have an HTC Pro 2 with Windows Mobile 6.1 and it syncs wirelessly well with Outlook 2007.

Also has anyone had any type of sync issues, especially with Windows Mobile Device Center?

I'd hate to replace my 2007 Office suite with 2010 only to run into sync problems. Yeah I know it's a beta program but...

    Thanks
    Depends on the Smart Phone!
Iphone is missing the Itunes Add Ins. So Itunes is unable to make the call to Outlook to sync.
    I don't have an iPhone

    Thanks
    and i dont want one!

As this particular Beta is only 5 days in he wild (officially) I would expect that many add-ins will have issues recognising Office 2010 components.

It may be however a simple case of the add-in not recognising the ID string for 2010 (office 14), as the add-in functionality in office is very similar to that in 2007.

The experience I have had with a particular software synchronising with 2010 was that once the ID string for 2010 was added the software worked flawlessly

I would suggest that those who absolutely must have the interaction between Outlook and a particular add-in wait a while to allow the add-in developers to adjust their product. Of course contacting the developers is an option in some cases - it worked in my case

Some developers will of course state that they do not support Beta software and will not make changes until release date or near to that date

outlook works for me with my samsung omnia but the option for notes to sync is greyed out and I get an error with the one notes which I don't like much anyway , I'm annoyed notes are greyed out as I do use or did use this function in sync .......
We are talking about 2010 right?

At any rate it's funny that you mention your notes option being grayed out as mine is as well under 2007? The odd thing is it was working before. I'll look into this and see what I find. By chance are you using Windows Mobile Device Center?

    Thanks
yes this is all with my omnia on office 2010

    Hi there
what REALLY surprised me was th SAB BW/BI Business Explorer (Bex) works fine

This is a SAP application linked to EXCEL -- so long as the SAPGUI with the business explorer app is re-installed on the machine with Office 2010 its fine.

(SAPGUI is the front end SAP uses for accessing the ERP software system - often called SAP R/3).

    This WAS a big surprise.

    Cheers

    Count yourself lucky Adrian.
I wasted good money on an iPhone only to find it is a useless kid's toy.
Doesn't even have a native task management app. so even if you have tasks in Outlook they've got nothing to sync to if you want to sync via USB cable like just about every other phone can.
Apple won't even allow developers to create an iStore Task Manager app that can sync via USB.
Don't know how they manage to sneak this past the anti-trust laws.

All I can say is that after 2 years of messy Windows Mobile devices, my new iPhone is an absolute dream of a device. Any little shortcomings it may have are massively outweighed by it's usability.
Only problem is that I can't try the 64 bit Office 2010 beta until Apple produce the iTunes plugin - apparently.

I thought this thread was about "Announcing Office 2010 Beta Availability" Since when did it turn into an iPhone thread?
