New KB3184143 Update to Remove Windows 10 Upgrade Offer
-
Hi,
As far as I remember it states the same thing it has always said :)

Well, look what showed up today in Windows Update: KB2952664. I am certain to have hidden it numerous times. Now the description is new:
This update performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. These diagnostics help determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating system is installed. This update will help Microsoft and its partners ensure compatibility for customers who want to install the latest Windows operating system.

The description is the same as its always been. And that update has been reissued numerous times now. I think it's on version 25 now, so each time it gets reissued it will show up again, even if you hide it.
This is why I don't bother to hide it anymore. I just leave it in the optional section along with many others.

Hi,
Indeed hiding is futile
I show 2 when it's reissued which is fairly annoying :)

Yeah, it's a strange one. When it gets reissued there seems to be one classed as recommended and one classed as optional, until the new one changes to recommended and then the old one disappears. Not sure why 2 of the same update keeps getting reissued.

Hi,
lol that I did not notice

I noticed it too. I hid it again.

I see everything!

Oh, OK, I thought before it did not mention the Customer Experience Improvement Program. But regardless, I thought that all those "preparing for the future upgrade" updates would be done by now as it should be clear that those who did not "upgrade" did so on purpose and are not intending to "upgrade" in the future.

Yeah, the description is misleading. Even though it states it is for upgrading to the latest OS, it's one of the telemetry updates and I don't think MS has any intention of removing them.
The Windows 8 equivalent KB2976978 has even been integrated into the latest ISO's, so I can't see them going anywhere.
