There is a major difference between Need and Want

A lot of people who frequent these forums are used to working on the Bleeding Edge of operating system development - and they want to see what the next release of a Microsoft operating system will bring.

Many here have already been involved with the development of windows 7 from the days before beta testing. They want to be involved in the development of Windows 8 as they were with Windows 7

Even if the release of Windows 8 is due on 2012 as long as the upgrade prices are low enough it may get a good reception. But if MS charges lots of $$$ people might stick with older versions or buy only major releases.

Windows 8 is coming in 2012

That's a long time away, I'll just enjoy Win 7 as long as it lasts. You don't have to upgrade if you don't want to.

As far as I am concerned the thrill of booting up a new (alpha, beta etc) o/s (and everything that goes before and after) is probably what most addicts feel when they use their drug of choice.

Computers = high for me! My drug of choice!!!!

Personally I can't wait to get my hands on it

But maybe I've been hanging around this site to long.
Another thought is that Google OS may radically change the landscape.
Bring it on I say

I don't have a ton to add, except hope that M$ learned there lesson with windows vista again. >>

Also everyone pushing the 2012 bit you do realize that our calender could be + or - 5-17 years, right? And by that logic, Technicly the world could end right now. I'm still taking bets on that giant meteor heading toward us in 2029 personally, but have you fun laugh. When you laugh its a hoax after 2012 passes and something happens 2017-2029 I'll be laughing to death. I'd rather go with asmile than panic.

If you don't believe me somethign the size of a motorcycle can make a crater the size of a baseball stadium at 3000 mph on impact with our atmosphere.

Either way can't wait to fix yet another operating system for good money on the side. Gogo Windows 8
