Windows 7 passes Mac OS X in market share race

itunes and safari is ok actually..
Safari maybe, but I hate iTunes with an absolute passion.
Some of it is slightly irrational, but it's mostly for valid reasons
iTunes 9 is a lot better then iTunes 8. I give them that..
Not when it comes to installation.
Just today, my brother-in-law brought around his laptop because he couldn't install iTunes. The existing Quicktime that was installed had a hissy fit and refused to be un-installed. Therefore iTunes failed to install.
I eventually had to use the Windows Install Clean Up tool to remove Quicktime.
Once that was done, iTunes installed but failed to run because of a DEP error. This was because he had codec packs installed.
After un-installing the multitude of Apple software that is bundled with iTunes as well as any codec packs, I tried again. This time I got an Error 7 message. Obviously yet another app had some codecs installed.
Since I was short on time and patience (and I don't really like my bro-in-law) I said Flap it - it's not going to install and removed the 'other bits' that did install and left iTunes un-installed.
It is simply one of those apps I have grown to loathe for various reasons over the years. That is just one of many examples. It's not user incompetence on my part, it's just a pig of an app at times.
Not to mention all the unnecessary 'extras' that Apple install alongside by default. I know I can un-pack the .exe first and install components individually - but quite frankly, I shouldn't have to.
(Same goes for you Adobe )

Have to support DarkNovaGamer. What is the use in bashing OSX???
You have used OSX 5 min and can tell its rubbish...
The same argument applied to the vast majority of Vista bashers.
I've never spent any length of time using OSX, so I don't make any blanket statements.
iTunes on Windows however, is another story all together...
My only complaint with Vista for the 2 1/2yrs. it was on here was the late release of different updates and not being able to run some programs there that actually ran well on the 32bit 7 beta! By the time the updated version of the application portion were seen the 7 beta were already in use!
The rest is just hearing from people who never came up through the ranks of different versions and started off with XP there. In fact not even the XP Mode will see any extended use here since most things are on 7 to start with. Despite some faults with Vista I wasn't happy enough to finally dump XP for good once the 7 RCs were available!
itunes and safari is ok actually..
unlike ie8 that crashes just by opening it.. well very easily... dunno if thats just me.. the beta ie8 was more stable
.. yeah people where bashing vista and downgrading to xp when vista was good.
The only problems seen with IE 8 were the beta release for XP where somehow it trashed one installation. The repair install and update to IE 7 full at the time resolved that problem. With IE 8 still being in beta form for the 7 betas themselves none of the early problems were repeated there.
With 7 being a success story now being seen you can see where a free to install whatever you want OS would take the higher percentage of market share over one where you use their own proprietary softwares only for the most part! This is one main reason why any OS that grows on tree branches hasn't even been tried out here due to limitations like those.

Same here, funnily enough.
I love Safari in OS X and my iPhone, but it just doesn't work so well in Windows.
