    'Black screen of death' for some Windows 7 users

    Recent Microsoft security patch affects those using Windows 7, Vista, XP

    A Microsoft security update for its new computer operating system, Windows 7 as well as older versions of Windows, is resulting in some users getting a "black screen of death" on their machines, according to reports.

    The problem may be tied to security updates recently released by the software maker.

    Of course, that's the Ultimate version. If you have the professional version it's a blue screen. If you have the home edition it's a green screen.

    B.S. (Pardon Language) My friend was able to replicate this issue on his computer. (Neighbor actually) He sent it in to Geek-Squad(Best-Buy Anyone?)
    They called back saying its-being looked into.

    the real case was...

    Meanwhile, Prevx have now issued an apology regarding their "findings". Prevx now blame malware for making changes to the registry which causes this behaviour. In a statement on Prevx's company blog, Jacques Erasmus, director of research at Prevx stated "we apologize to Microsoft for any inconvenience our blog may have caused. This has been a challenging issue to identify."

    @offtopic oh but prevx is really good at catching left over virus variants :P better than mbam or w.e.. :P but its not free XD... so I'll pay for a real av instead lol
