Do you think I should wait before buying a HDD? I was thinking about buying a 1 TB HDD for Christmas but now I'm thinking about waiting a bit.
wait for sure since that it might just might mean that HDD could go down in price to be competitive...
this has got me waiting on two 2tb drives that i would otherwise lose a huge amount of space on, especially since thats the limit for most drives...
instead im getting a 1 tb in the meantime...:)
That is the problem I have with hardware and I can't bring myself to buy anymore...

I start to buy...say a processor...and then stop myself because I remember that if I wait I can get something better later

Unlike your scenario...I know when it is time to buy...

Look at the laptop in my specs...it blows the majority of laptops out of the water and I got it 1 3/4 years ago...almost 2 years now

LOL to waiting because something better is round the corner.

Makes sense - specially with usb 3 arriving.

Interesting to see Paragon made the align software for those using legacy o/s or cloning to a WD HD.

I will say, I was pretty disappointed to see that the WD 1.5TB drive I bought a few weeks ago only had 1.36GB usable. I will welcome and await this when it comes time for another.

On a side note, WD needs to get their head out of their (you know what) and stop making that BS crapware unremovable. I bought a 320GB external HD for transporting files and close to 500MB is wasted due to that crap...

    you mean 1.36TB right?
first thing i do is reformat to ntfs (well first i compress and backup that junk just in case it proves useful down the road(which is why i seem to need 2 2TB drives now...)) and poof problems gone

My bad. Yes, I did mean 1.36TB! I reformatted (though it was already NTFS) and that's the best I got. Oh well, I'd rather have my data spread out on multiple drives anyway (even though I have backups of EVERYTHING).

Hello, and YaY! for WD; I find reasons to replace other brands when possible. My Win 7 machine has two SATA and one USB WD drive.
