Google makes Scilly Islands disappear!

Just browsing the current Google Earth (V.5) and I have noticed that someone has stolen the Scilly Islands from off the Cornish coast.

Unless this is proof of global warming would whoever has taken these islands please return them

Welcome to the Isles of Scilly - Simply Scilly

To add insult to injury - if you follow the above link and click on the links on the front page to the individual island of Tresco it gives a "404 Not Found"

It's been repossessed. The economic crisis has hit harder than imagined. You'll probably find Scilly at an auction somewhere

I found Tresco for you Nigel, from the Home page click on the link for the islands then you can go to all of them from the links down the side of the page you land on
The only page that comes up with nothing, but no errors, is the Uninhabited Islands link.

Hi Joan,

Hope You are Well

It's starting to get Spooky, it's bad enough when Google looses a whole island group - but when the official pages go missing from their own pages Hmmm

I blame the addition of the bathymetry images. They didnt do a thorough job in checking it aka atlantis sillyness.

Hi Swarfega,

I agree that the additional images are probably the cause, the "atlantis" issue is more than likely a natural phenomenon, nature does have a habit of producing quite a few "man made" features especially underwater where the natural erosion is less.

would be cool if it was Atlantis though

And I can remember when MS took over Autoroute and Nottingham disappeared

Actually the Scilly Islands have been given to Iceland in order that they may make enough money selling them to repay the Brits.

Hello Peter,

If you could please put them back when you've finished with them the local migrants have nowhere to have a rest on their way back from Africa.
