| | At Microsoft, is age more than just a number? Quote: I’m not a big one for New Year’s resolutions, but I do reflect at the end of each year on what happened and what’s to come next. I leaf through my virtual correspondence folders, reflecting on memorable reader notes, both good and bad. In my “Trolls, Zealots and Other *#@&^#%+s folder,” I noticed a few e-mails (mostly from Mac users, for some reason) advising me to go back and sit in my rocker and leave tech punditry to the younger generation. | | Good article. Don't really know enough about human resource management to comment on the effectiveness of the strategy but it makes sense to employ and retain young and committed people with talent. I imagine it was great being part of the Windows 7 project but didn't MS lay a load of people off when they turned Vista around a year or so before? Anyway, that's a lovely rocking chair.  |

| | I started in Viet Nam a gazillion years ago with comunications equipment most folks today would not even know as such. Autodin was the word-sort of a computer with no disk system. I do not know about any wisdom I have but I do know how far we have come...and a slight idea of where we can go. Another thing I know is that more important than the wisdom is discipline. To the gernerations that come I ask but one favor...no matter what you do or how far you go with it make sure it is for good not evil. Do it to better the human condition. Please! My two cents. |
